My jewellery has lost its finish and become shiny: what can i do?
Our jewellery has a satin finish that will be made shinier through ongoing wear. The satin finish can be maintained by using the cleaning instructions below in the section: How Do I Clean My Matsu Jewellery?
How do I clean my Matsu Jewellery?
Do NOT use a polishing cloth. Matsu's jewellery has a satin finish - a finishing cloth will change the finish to shiny. We find it best to use baking soda and water. Dip the to piece in water. Take some dry baking soda, and work it into the piece with your fingers (the soda combines with the droplets of water on the piece to make a paste). Avoid scrubbing directly on a pearl. However, don't panic if a little baking soda is touching the pearl, just don't rub it in. For hard to reach places on jewellery, dampen a toothbrush, and add some soda then use this to scrub. Rinse the scrubbed jewellery under lukewarm water to remove the baking soda and pat dry with a soft cloth or towel. Please note: Any holes in the piece (ie. the underside of a setting) need extra care to make sure all the traces of baking soda are removed. Any baking soda not removed from the piece will leave a white film or a clump that will harden, and become extremely difficult to remove.
Is the entire Matsu Jewellery Collection available online?
While there is a large collection of Matsu Jewellery available for purchase online, not all of our pieces are available through this website. If you've fallen in love with a piece but don't see in on the site please don't hesitate to email us or call with your enquiry. We would be more than happy to help you!
Do you make custom jewellery?
We do! Custom orders can be made through one of our retail locations in Toronto or Newmarket by making an appointment with Jennifer. We can also arrange custom work if you come to see us at a retail show. If you can not come to see us in person, custom work can be discussed by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
